New Orleans is an exciting and vibrant city full of amazing things to do. From its unique culture to its rich history, there is something for everyone in the city. Whether you're looking for a fun night out on the town or a more relaxed day exploring some of the city's historic sites, New Orleans has something for every taste.
To further give you an idea about what activities you must try in this city, here are five recommendations you should include in your bucket list:
One thing to add in your bucket list is to personally watch Jackson Square's Street Performers and Artists. Jackson Square, which lies inside the French Quarter, is a must-see location! It is the center of the French Quarter and the location where Louisiana became a US territory in 1803.
Aside from that, visit the square to have one of the numerous fate tellers or painters draw a caricature of you or read your palm. Overall, Jackson Square, New Orleans' most well-known park, is a terrific place to spend time no matter what you choose to do there.
Traveling isn't complete without food and this city is a perfect place to do restaurant hopping. Going to the best restaurants in New Orleans will surely be a gastronomic adventure, with dishes like jambalaya, gumbo, catfish, and even alligator meat! Of course, the beignets are heavenly, too.
So, if you're planning to travel in New Orleans, prepare your restaurant bucket list to have an excellent food experience when you get there.
New Orleans is well-known for their haunted cemeteries, so you must visit one when you get there.
Almost all of the burials are above ground and are housed in ornate vaults because the majority of the city is at or below sea level, which makes visiting the cemeteries here a really unique experience. The most well-known cemetery in New Orleans, St. Louis Cemetery #1, is only a block away from the French Quarter. It was established in 1789 and is the oldest cemetery in the allegedly haunted city.
New Orlean's Museum of Art opened its doors in 1911, making it one of the country's oldest art museums. It is one of the greatest art exhibitions in the southern United States.
Over thousands works of art are on permanent display at the museum, including stunning Japanese, American, and African works as well as French paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, including ones by Monet and Edgar Degas. Not to be missed are the traveling displays at the museum.
One of the best things to do in New Orleans is to take a swamp tour, which typically lasts two hours. Discover the stunning wetlands of Louisiana, which are filled with wildlife, plants, and flowers. Aside from gators, you might also observe boars, turtles, minks, ospreys, herons, and possibly a bald eagle. Your tour guide will also educate you on the local Cajun lifestyle and the history of the bayous in New Orleans.
Final Thoughts
Surely, there are plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. So if you're looking for a fun and exciting adventure, New Orleans is the perfect destination. Feel free to include these amazing activities on your next trip in this city.
