Can drinking coffee reduce the risk of heart failure? According to a study published in "AHA journal Circulation: Heart Failure," drinking more than two cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of heart failure by about 30%.
Aurora, CO (Merxwire) - Coffee is one of the must-have drinks for many people every day. Drinking coffee can help maintain vitality, and some studies have even pointed out that it can help lose weight. So are there any more benefits to drinking coffee? A study "Association Between Coffee Intake and Incident Heart Failure Risk" from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical School was published in "AHA journal Circulation: Heart Failure," showing that drinking more than one cup of coffee a day can help reduce heart failure risks.
The study was conducted by Dr. David Kao and his research team. The researchers gathered data from three large heart disease research projects for analysis, including Framingham Heart Study (FHS) and Cardiovascular Heart Study (CHS) and Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC), involving a total of 21,361 participants and huge data, and using the Precision Medicine Platform for analysis.
In the study, it was found that compared with all other dietary factors, the correlation between drinking coffee and reducing the risk of heart failure was more prominent. Among them, drinking one cup or less than one cup of coffee a day has no effect, but compared to people who do not drink coffee, drinking two cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of heart failure by 5-12%. When people drink more than two cups of coffee a day, they reduce heart failure risk by about 30%.
However, not enough subjects drank more than three cups of coffee a day, so the results of drinking more coffee could not be understood. Moreover, the study uses black coffee, so it is impossible to distinguish between different types of coffee or brewing methods or differences in added sugar or cream.
Although drinking coffee has some benefits, you should not drink too much. Especially for pregnant women, if you drink more than 4 cups of black coffee a day during pregnancy, it may put the baby at risk of underweight, premature delivery, or stillbirth. In addition, although studies have found that coffee drinking is associated with reducing the risk of heart failure, it is still necessary to do further research to determine how much caffeine intake is safe? And explore how caffeine reduces the risk of heart failure in the human body.
Whether you like coffee or not, you should choose more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, Low fat or Nonfat dairy products, and reduce your sodium and sugar intake in terms of diet. Do not consume too much caffeine to avoid problems such as constant shaking of your hands or affecting sleep. In terms of exercise, gentle exercise such as walking is recommended.
