The new K-cup pods recycling tool "Kupit" was launched on Kickstarter to make recycling of K-cup pods easier. Using Kupit, you can easily decompose the K-cup pods into recyclable components, effectively reducing the amount of garbage.
LOS ANGELES (Merxwire)-Statistics platform Statista pointed out that in 2019, about a quarter of Americans who drank coffee in the past used coffee capsules, and some 24 percent of the respondents reported to have bought their coffee in pre-measured disks or capsules to make a single cup of coffee.
Jeremy Bailey and Candy Chung of BurgeУТГn Brands realized that the use of K-cups and similar disposable coffee capsules continues to grow and will generate a lot of waste, and then launched the Kupit Kickstarter Campaign.
With a sincere belief that there was a solution to the seemingly overwhelming problem, the Kupit creators set to work: "We were frustrated with other flawed devices out on the market that either don't fully break down the K-cups and/or had to be constantly replaced. We tried a ton of different methods of breaking down K-cups on the way to creating Kupit."
Kupit securely holds the pod by its cap, allowing the user to safely separate the cap from the rest of the pod with any household serrated knife. This simple action enables consumers to detach the non-recyclable lid and paper filter from the plastic cup, allowing for easy recycling of the cup and the composting of the filter and coffee grounds.
